MS Nurse PRO: Establishing the Benchmark for MS Nursing Care in Europe
MS Nurse PROfessional (MS Nurse PRO) offers the first European online foundation education programme for nurses working in the field of multiple sclerosis (MS). It is led by the EMSP in collaboration with the International Organisation of Multiple Sclerosis Nurses (IOMSN) and Rehabilitation in MS (RIMS).
In 2022, we launched a Research e-learning module supported by the European Committee for Treatment and Research in Multiple Sclerosis (ECTRIMS), and we have also developed a flexible work-based learning programme in collaboration with Birmingham City University. In addition, MS Nurse PRO was also launched in Hungary and is now available in the Hungarian language.
Since its launch in 2012, MS Nurse PRO has been joined by over 8000 nurses. The online community is available in 13 languages and actively promoted in 17 European countries. The Foundation Programme has been accredited by the International Council of Nurses and endorsed by more than 25 national and international organisations.
The mission of MS Nurse PRO is to provide online and offline educational
content, sharing and networking opportunities - both at the European and
national level - to empower people affected by MS and their carers.
MS Nurse PROfessional offers a free, multi-lingual, internationally accredited, foundation level e-learning programme providing five courses that support the evolving role of nurses caring for people with MS. Furthermore, it offers two advanced e-learning programmes focusing on rehabilitation and nursing research respectively. MS Nurse PROfessional organises annually two international and one national live educational session, publishes six blogposts and two e-newsletters on relevant topics.
In addition, MS Nurse PRO was recently launched in Hungary and is now available in the Hungarian language.

In 2022, we launched a Research e-learning module supported by the European Committee for Treatment and Research in Multiple Sclerosis (ECTRIMS), which provides nurses with a clear understanding of the value of research, its importance to MS nursing, and how it can be used to improve patient outcomes in clinical practice. Furthermore, MS Nurse PRO organised an educational session on Research in MS nursing at the ECTRIMS Congress held in Amsterdam, which lasted one hour.
Lastly, we have also developed a flexible work-based learning programme in collaboration with Birmingham City University. This programme grants 6 European educational credits (ECTS) to students who successfully complete the Foundation Programme and submit a written assignment.
